Move Colors CSS to a child theme (out of HTML source)

If you’ve settled on a set of colors that you’re happy with, you may want to consider moving the CSS declarations from the HTML source to a child theme (where you can also do additional customization, as desired).

Here are the steps to do this:

  1. Create a child theme. You can download the CSS for your child theme from your Theme Settings page (at the bottom of the Appearance > Theme Settings page). This will give you a valid child theme CSS file as well as all of the colors you are currently using on your site – just what you need.
  2. Add the following code to the functions.php file for your child theme:

With this change you’ve reduced the amount of content being transferred with each page request and sped up your website. Great work!
